الْآيَةُ (43) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {عَفَا اللهُ عَنْكَ لِمَ أَذِنْتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَتَعْلَمَ الْكَاذِبِينَ}
Verse (43) His saying, Exalted is He: {May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind] until it was clear to you who were truthful and you knew the liars?}

Hadith 1017
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ الْأَوْدِيَّ يَقُولُ: اثْنَتَانِ فَعَلَهُمَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمَرْ بِهِمَا ؛ إِذْنُهُ لِلْمُنَافِقِينَ، وَأَخْذُهُ مِنَ الْأُسَارَى - حَتَّى أَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { عَفَا اللهُ عَنْكَ لِمَ أَذِنْتَ لَهُمْ }، وَ: { مَا كَانَ لِنَبِيٍّ أَنْ يَكُونَ لَهُ أَسْرَى } .
Amr bin Maymun al-Awdi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: There are two things which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did, although he had not been commanded to do them: granting permission to the hypocrites and taking captives, until Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: ﴿‘May Allah pardon you! Why did you grant them leave?’’﴾, and ﴿‘It is not for a prophet to have captives’﴾.
Hadith 1018
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ - أَوْ غَيْرِهِ - عَنْ عَوْنٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَهُ بِالْعَفْوِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُعَرِّفَهُ بِالذَّنْبِ .
Awn, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, forgave the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, before making him aware of the sin.
Hadith 1019
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ { أَسْرَى } " .
Humaid, may Allah have mercy on him, used to recite «أَسْرَى».
