الْآيَةُ (199) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ}

Hadith 974
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ } - قَالَ: مَا أُمِرَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْخُذَ مِنْ أَخْلَاقِهِمْ وَأَعْمَالِهِمْ .
Urwah bin Zubair, may Allah have mercy on him, said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant” (__QUR_N__): The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was commanded to adopt ease and gentleness in people’s habits and their actions.
Hadith 975
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ: { خُذِ الْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِالْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْجَاهِلِينَ }، وَاللهِ مَا أَمَرَ بِهَا أَنْ نَأْخُذَ إِلَّا مِنْ أَخْلَاقِ النَّاسِ، وَاللهِ لَآخُذَنَّهَا مِنْهُمْ مَا صَحِبْتُهُمْ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) said from the pulpit: The meaning of Allah Almighty’s statement, “Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant” is that we should adopt gentleness and ease from among the habits of people, and by Allah! As long as I am with them, I will continue to adopt this approach.
