الْآيَتَانِ (156 وَ 157) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ}
Verses (156 and 157) His saying, Exalted is He: {And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You} to His saying: {It is those who are the successful}

Hadith 964
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: نَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعُرْيَانِ، قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِي هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ إِنَّا هُدْنَا إِلَيْكَ } - قَالَ: فَلَمْ يُعْطَهَا مُوسَى . { قَالَ عَذَابِي أُصِيبُ بِهِ مَنْ أَشَاءُ وَرَحْمَتِي وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ }، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: { أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ } .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “And write for us in this world good and in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned to You” (__QUR_N__): This supplication was not granted to Musa (peace be upon him), rather Allah the Exalted said: “My punishment—I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things” (__QUR_N__), until He said: “Those are the successful” (__QUR_N__).
Hadith 965
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمْ إِصْرَهُمْ } - قَالَ: عُهُودًا كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “And removes from them their burden”: These were the covenants and pledges that were obligatory upon them.
