الْآيَةُ (141) قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {وَهُوَ الَّذِي أَنْشَأَ جَنَّاتٍ مَعْرُوشَاتٍ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {كُلُوا مِنْ ثَمَرِهِ إِذَا أَثْمَرَ وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ}
Verse (141) His saying, Mighty and Majestic: {And He it is who produces gardens trellised and untrellised} to His saying: {Eat of their fruit when they bear fruit and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest}

Hadith 922
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: عِنْدَ الزَّرْعِ يُعْطِي الْقَبْصَ، وَعِنْدَ الْحَصَادِ يُعْطِي الْقَبْضَ، وَيَتْرُكُهُمْ يَتَّبِعُونَ آثَارَ الصِّرَامِ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: ﴿And give its due on the day of its harvest﴾: When the crop is ready, the farmer should give some ears as its due, and when he harvests the crop, he should give some quantity as its due, and he should allow them to pick up the grains that have fallen after the harvest.
Hadith 923
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: إِذَا حَصَدْتَ فَحَضَرَكَ الْمَسَاكِينُ فَاطْرَحْ لَهُمْ مِنَ السُّنْبُلِ، وَإِذَا طَيَّبْتَهُ وَكَدَسْتَهُ وَحَضَرَكَ الْمَسَاكِينُ فَاطْرَحْ لَهُمْ مِنْهُ، وَإِذَا دُسْتَهُ وَذَرَيْتَهُ وَحَضَرَكَ الْمَسَاكِينُ فَاطْرَحْ لَهُمْ مِنْهُ، وَإِذَا ذَرَيْتَهُ وَجَمَعْتَهُ وَعَرَفْتَ كَيْلَهُ فَاعْزِلْ زَكَاتَهُ، وَإِذَا بَلَغَ النَّخْلُ فَحَضَرَكَ الْمَسَاكِينُ فَاطْرَحْ لَهُمْ مِنَ الثَّفَارِيقِ وَالْبُسْرِ، وَإِذَا جَذَذْتَهُ فَحَضَرَكَ الْمَسَاكِينُ فَاطْرَحْ لَهُمْ مِنْهُ، وَإِذَا جَمَعْتَهُ وَعَرَفْتَ كَيْلَهُ فَاعْزِلْ زَكَاتَهُ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “And give its due on the day of its harvest” (__QUR_N__): When you reap the crop and the needy are present, throw some ears for them. And when you clean the crop and make a heap and the needy are present, take out some from it for them. And when you thresh and winnow the grain and the needy are present, take out some from it for them. And when you winnow the grain and measure it, then separate its zakat. And when the date clusters ripen and the needy are present, throw a few clusters and some unripe dates for them. And when you cut the dates and the needy are present, take out some from them for them. And when you gather the dates and determine their measure, then separate its zakat.
Hadith 924
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ حَصَادِ اللَّيْلِ وَجِدَادِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade harvesting crops and picking dates at night.
Hadith 925
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: سِوَى الزَّكَاةِ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “And give its due on the day of its harvest” (__QUR_N__): This is other than zakat.
Hadith 926
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: إِنَّ فِي الْمَالِ لَحَقًّا سِوَى الزَّكَاةِ .
Aamir Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: There is a right in wealth besides Zakat.
Hadith 927
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ شِبَاكٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: نَسَخَتْهَا الزَّكَاةُ الْعُشْرُ وَنِصْفُ الْعُشْرِ .
Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted's statement: "And give its due on the day of its harvest" (__QUR_N__): This verse has been abrogated by zakat, that is, 'ushr (one-tenth) and nisf 'ushr (half of one-tenth).
Hadith 928
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: الْعُشْرُ وَنِصْفُ الْعُشْرِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said regarding the statement of Allah the Exalted: "And give its due on the day of its harvest" (__QUR_N__): What is meant by this is the 'ushr (one-tenth) and half of 'ushr, that is, half of one-tenth.
Hadith 929
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَآتُوا حَقَّهُ يَوْمَ حَصَادِهِ } - قَالَ: شَيْءٌ يَسِيرٌ سِوَى الزَّكَاةِ الْمَفْرُوضَةِ، وَكَانَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ يَقُولُ: هِيَ الزَّكَاةُ الْمَفْرُوضَةُ .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “And give its due on the day of its harvest” — what is meant by this is to give a little wealth apart from the obligatory zakat. And Sa’id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say that what is meant is the obligatory zakat itself.
Hadith 930
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَنْ أَدَّى زَكَاةَ مَالِهِ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يَتَصَدَّقَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever pays the zakat of his wealth, then there is no sin upon him if he does not give charity.
Hadith 931
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ الثَّقَفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللهَ فَرَضَ عَلَى الْأَغْنِيَاءِ فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ بِقَدْرِ مَا يَكْفِي فُقَرَاءَهُمْ، فَإِنْ جَاعُوا أَوْ عَرُوا أَوْ جَهِدُوا فَبِمَنْعِ الْأَغْنِيَاءِ، وَحَقٌّ عَلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يُحَاسِبَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَيُعَذِّبَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say: Indeed, Allah the Mighty and Majestic has made obligatory upon the wealthy a right in their wealth that is sufficient for the support of their poor. So if the poor remain hungry, unclothed, or fall into hardship, then it is because the wealthy have withheld that right. And it is incumbent upon Allah the Mighty and Majestic to call those wealthy to account on the Day of Resurrection and to punish them for it.
