الْآيَاتُ (119 - 121) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلا تَأْكُلُوا مِمَّا ذُكِرَ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ}، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {وَلا تَأْكُلُوا مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَفِسْقٌ}
Verses (119 - 121) His saying, Exalted is He: {And why should you not eat of that over which the name of Allah has been mentioned, while He has explained in detail to you what He has forbidden you, excepting that to which you are compelled} to His saying: {And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned, for indeed, it is grave disobedience}

Hadith 910
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيَّ يَقْرَأُ: { وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ } .
Atiyyah Awfi, may Allah have mercy on him, used to recite this verse as follows: "And He has detailed for you what He has forbidden to you," meaning Allah has explained in detail the things He has made unlawful for you.
Hadith 911
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ مَرَّ بِالْجَزَّارِينَ فَقَالَ: مَنْ يَذْبَحُ لَكُمْ ؟ فَقَالُوا: هَذَا، فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ تَذْبَحُ لِهَؤُلَاءِ ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ صَلَاةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا - فَلَمْ يَدْرِ، فَضَرَبَهُ وَأَخْرَجَهُ مِنَ السُّوقِ، وَضَرَبَ الْجَزَّارِينَ وَقَالَ: يَذْبَحُ لَكُمْ مِثْلُ هَذَا وَاللهُ يَقُولُ: { وَلا تَأْكُلُوا مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ اسْمُ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ } . !
Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by some butchers and said: "Who slaughters for you?" They said: "This person." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Do you slaughter for them?" He said: "Yes." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Tell me about such-and-such prayer." He could not answer, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him and expelled him from the market, and he also struck the butchers and said: "Will such a person slaughter for you? Even though Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: __QUR_N__ 'And do not eat of that upon which the name of Allah has not been mentioned.' __QUR_N__"
Hadith 912
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَذْبَحُ فَيَنْسَى أَنْ يُسَمِّيَ، قَالَ: كَرِهَهُ، وَلَمْ يَقُلْ: إِنَّهُ حَرَامٌ .
It is narrated from Ibrahim Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a person forgets to mention the name of Allah at the time of slaughtering, he disliked it, but did not say that it is forbidden.
Hadith 913
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي الرَّجُلِ يَذْبَحُ فَيَنْسَى أَنْ يُسَمِّيَ، قَالَ: يَأْكُلُ .
It is narrated from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a person forgets to mention the name of Allah at the time of slaughter, he said: He may eat the meat.
Hadith 914
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَيْنٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِيمَنْ يَذْبَحُ وَيَنْسَى التَّسْمِيَةَ، قَالَ: الْمُسْلِمُ فِيهِ اسْمُ اللهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرِ التَّسْمِيَةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that if a Muslim forgets to say the tasmiyah, that is, the name of Allah, at the time of slaughtering, he said: The name of Allah is upon the Muslim, even if he does not mention the tasmiyah.
Hadith 915
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَنْ ذَبَحَ فَنَسِيَ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَ فَلْيَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهِ وَلْيَأْكُلْ، وَلَا يَدَعْهُ لِلشَّيْطَانِ إِذَا ذَبَحَ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Whoever slaughters and forgets to mention the name of Allah, then let him mention the name of Allah, and eat, and not leave it for Satan, provided that he slaughtered according to the natural (Islamic) way.
Hadith 916
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سُمَيْعٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ أَنَّ وَالَانَ مَرَّ عَلَى بَغْلَةٍ لَهُ، قَالَ: فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى الدَّارِ، قَالَ: وَشَاةٌ مَذْبُوحَةٌ، فَقَالَ لِنِسْوَةٍ حَوْلَهَا: مَنْ ذَبَحَهَا ؟ فَقُلْنَ: ذَبَحَهَا فُلَانٌ غُلَامُكَ، فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا يُصَلِّي غُلَامِي ! فَقُلْنَ: وَلَكِنْ عَلَّمْنَاهُ فَسَمَّى، فَرَجَعْتُ كَمَا أَنَا فَأَتَيْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ فَأَنْبَأْتُهُ بِتَعْلِيمِ النِّسْوَةِ إِيَّاهُ التَّسْمِيَةَ، فَقَالَ: كُلْ .
Malik bin Umair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: I was riding on my mule and passing by when I reached near a house, where there was a slaughtered goat. So I asked the women around it: Who slaughtered it? They said: Your slave did. I said: By Allah! My slave does not pray! The women said: We taught him and he slaughtered it taking the name of Allah. So I turned back from there and went to Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him about the incident of the women teaching the slave the tasmiya (saying Bismillah). Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Eat it.
