الْآيَةُ (105) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَكَذَلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الآيَاتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ}
Verse (105) His saying, Exalted is He: {And thus do We diversify the signs so that they will say, "You have studied," and so We may make it clear for a people who know}

Hadith 899
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ { دَارَسْتَ } بِالْأَلِفِ، قَالَ: قَارَأْتَ .
Ayyub (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I heard Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) narrate from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he used to recite this verse with «دَارَسْتَ» alif, and he used to say: Its meaning is: You have read and taught.
Hadith 900
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ كَيْسَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ: { دَارَسْتَ } خَاصَمْتَ وَتَلَوْتَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The meaning of «دَارَسْتَ» is: you argued and recited.
Hadith 901
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، سَمِعَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ صِبْيَانَنَا هَاهُنَا يَقُولُونَ: { دَارَسْتَ }، وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ { دَرَسْتَ }، وَيَقْرَؤُونَ { حَمِئَةٍ }، وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ { حَامِيَةً }، وَيَقْرَؤُونَ { وَحَرَّمَ }، وَإِنَّمَا هِيَ (حَرَامٌ)، وَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يُخَالِفُهُ فِيهِنَّ كُلِّهِنَّ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The children here recite «دَارَسْتَ», whereas in reality it is «دَرَسْتَ»; and they recite «حَمِئَةٍ», whereas in reality it is «حَامِيَةً»; and they recite «وَحَرَّمَ», whereas in reality it is «حَرَامٌ». And Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to oppose them in all these recitations.
Hadith 902
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ { دَارَسْتَ }، قَالَ: قَرَأْتُ وَتَعَلَّمْتُ .
A man from Banu Tamim narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the statement of Allah the Exalted «دَارَسْتَ», so he replied: It means you have recited and learned.
Hadith 903
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { دَارَسْتَ }، قَالَ: قَرَأْتَ وَتَعَلَّمْتَ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said regarding the statement of Allah the Exalted «دَارَسْتَ»: Its meaning is: you have recited and learned.
Hadith 904
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: قَرَأْتَ، وَقَرَؤُوا عَلَيْكَ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding «دَارَسْتَ»: "You recited, and the people recited upon you."
Hadith 905
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ { دَارَسْتَ }، قَالَ: قَرَأْتَ وَتَعَلَّمْتَ .
Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) used to say about it: It means you have read and learned.
Hadith 906
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ الْخِرِّيتِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ { دَارَسْتَ }، يَقُولُ: دَارَسْتَ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ، قَارَأْتَهُمْ .
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) «دَارَسْتَ» used to recite in this manner and used to say: "You have discussed with the People of the Book and recited the Qur'an to them."
Hadith 907
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا جُوَيْبِرٌ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ - مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي بِشْرٍ .
This narration is also from Dahhak (may Allah have mercy on him) according to the hadith of Abu Bishr (may Allah have mercy on him), that the meaning of «دَارَسْتَ» is: you have read and learned.
Hadith 908
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ (دَرَّسْتَ) مُشَدَّدَةً .
Hasan al-Basri, may Allah have mercy on him, used to recite this word with tashdeed (emphasis) on «دَرَّسْتَ».
Hadith 909
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: هِيَ قِرَاءَةُ عَبْدِ اللهِ (دَرَّسْتَ) .
Abu Ishaq (may Allah have mercy on him) says: This is the recitation of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he used to recite «دَرَّسْتَ» with tashdeed (emphasis).
