الْآيَةُ (65) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ}
Verse (65): His (Allah's) saying: {Say: He is able to send upon you a punishment from above you or from beneath your feet or to confuse you in sects and make you taste the violence of one another...}

Hadith 882
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَسُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { قُلْ هُوَ الْقَادِرُ عَلَى أَنْ يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِنْ فَوْقِكُمْ } - قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ . { أَوْ مِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ } - قَالَ: أَعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ . { أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُمْ بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ } - قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: هُوَ أَهْوَنُ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ: هَاتَانِ أَيْسَرُ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "Say: He is able to send punishment upon you from above you," the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge in Your Face." And when it was revealed: "or from beneath your feet," he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I seek refuge in Your Face." And when it was revealed: "or to confuse you in sects and make you taste the violence of one another," Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "These two punishments are easier," and he said: "These two situations are lighter."
