قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنْ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ إِلا إِنَاثًا وَإِنْ يَدْعُونَ إِلا شَيْطَانًا مَرِيدًا} .
His (Allah's) saying: {They invoke none but female deities besides Him, and they [actually] invoke none but a rebellious Satan}

Hadith 688
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا نَوْحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْحُدَّانِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَيْفٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: لَمْ يَكُنْ حَيٌّ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ إِلَّا وَلَهُمْ صَنَمٌ يَعْبُدُونَهُ يُسَمُّونَهُ أُنْثَى بَنِي فُلَانٍ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { إِنْ يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِ إِلا إِنَاثًا وَإِنْ يَدْعُونَ إِلا شَيْطَانًا مَرِيدًا } .
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Every tribe of the Arabs had an idol which they used to worship, and they would call it "the daughter of such-and-such tribe." So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "They invoke nothing but female deities besides Him, and they invoke nothing but a rebellious Satan."
