قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا ضَرَبْتُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَتَبَيَّنُوا وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا تَبْتَغُونَ عَرَضَ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا} .
His (Allah's) saying: {O you who have believed, when you go forth in the cause of Allah, investigate; and do not say to one who gives you [a greeting of] peace "You are not a believer," aspiring for the goods of worldly life}

Hadith 677
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: لَحِقَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ رَجُلًا فِي غُنَيْمَةٍ، فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَتَلُوهُ، وَأَخَذُوا غُنَيْمَتَهُ، فَنَزَلَتْ: { وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ لَسْتَ مُؤْمِنًا } .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Muslims found a man at the time of the spoils of war, and he said: "As-salamu Alaikum," but they killed him and took his wealth. Then this verse was revealed: "And do not say to the one who offers you peace, 'You are not a believer.'" __QUR_N__
Hadith 678
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ { لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ } .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) used to recite this verse as: "Liman alqa ilaykumu al-salam."
Hadith 679
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ: { لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلامَ } .
Abu Abdur Rahman Al-Sulami (may Allah have mercy on him) used to recite this verse as: "Liman alqa ilaykumu al-salam."
Hadith 680
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَوْفٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّهُمَا كَانَا يَقْرَآنِ: { لِمَنْ أَلْقَى إِلَيْكُمُ السَّلَمَ } .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) both used to recite this verse as: "liman alqa ilaykumu al-salam."
