A man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): What do you say about a person who deliberately killed a believer, then repented, believed, did righteous deeds, and was guided? He replied: From where will he find guidance? May his mother weep for him! I heard your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: On the Day of Resurrection, the murdered person will come with his head in his hand and his veins dripping with blood, and he will say: O my Lord! Ask him why he killed me? By Allah! Nothing has been revealed to abrogate this verse: __QUR_N__ “And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, to abide therein; and the wrath and curse of Allah are upon him, and a great punishment is prepared for him.” __QUR_N__

It is narrated from Sa'id bin Mina (may Allah have mercy on him) that I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), when a man came and said: O Abu Hurairah! What do you say about the killer of a believer? Is there repentance for him? So Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: No! By Him besides whom there is no deity, he will not enter Paradise until a camel passes through the eye of a needle.

It is narrated from Sa'id bin Mina (may Allah have mercy on him) that there was a dispute between one of my companions and a man from the market of Makkah. My companion picked up a chair and struck it on that man's head, which caused his death. Then he regretted it and said: "I will give all my wealth in charity and imprison myself in the way of Allah." I said: "Come, let us go to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and ask him if there is repentance for you." So we reached him in Makkah. I said: "O Abu Abdur Rahman!" and then narrated the whole incident in detail, and asked: "Do you see any way of repentance for him?" He said: "Eat and drink, uff, get up from before me! He says he did not intend to kill? He is lying! One of you strikes a Muslim on the head with a stick, then says: 'I did not intend to kill'? He is lying! Eat and drink as much as you can, uff, get up from before me!" After that, he did not say anything to us until we got up and left.
