قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَالَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ فَآتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ} .
His (Allah's) saying: {And those whom your right hands have bound [in oath], give them their share}

Hadith 625
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يُعَاقِدُ الرَّجُلَ، فَيَرِثُ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا صَاحِبَهُ، وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ عَاقَدَ رَجُلًا، فَوَرِثَهُ .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "In the time of ignorance, one person would make a pact with another person, and then both would become heirs to each other." In the same way, our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also made a pact with a person, so when that person passed away, our master Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) became his heir.
Hadith 626
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَلِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مَوَالِيَ مِمَّا تَرَكَ الْوَالِدَانِ وَالأَقْرَبُونَ } قَالَ: الْعَصَبَةُ، { وَالَّذِينَ عَقَدَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ فَآتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ } قَالَ: الْحُلَفَاءُ، { فَآتُوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ } قَالَ: مِنَ الْعَقْلِ وَالنَّصْرِ وَالرِّفَادَةِ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the explanation of Allah the Exalted’s statement: ﴿And for everyone We have made heirs to what is left by parents and relatives﴾: “These are the ‘asaba (paternal relatives).” And regarding Allah’s statement: ﴿And those whom your right hands have pledged to, give them their share﴾, he said: “This refers to the allies (halafā’).” And about ﴿give them their share﴾, he said: “That is, give them their share in blood money, support, and hospitality.”
Hadith 627
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ: { عَاقَدَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ } .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) used to recite this verse as: "ʿAaqadat Aymanukum."
