قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ إِلا أَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْكُمْ وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا * وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ عُدْوَانًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللهِ يَسِيرًا} .
His (Allah's) saying: {O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful]}

Hadith 622
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ، أَنَّ مَسْرُوقًا أَتَى صِفِّينَ، فَقَامَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَّيْنِ فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَنْصِتُوا، أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ أَنَّ مُنَادِيًا نَادَاكُمْ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَرَأَيْتُمُوهُ وَسَمِعْتُمْ كَلَامَهُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ اللهَ يَنْهَاكُمْ عَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فِيهِ، أَكُنْتُمْ مُنْتَهُونَ ؟ قَالَ: فَسَبُّوهُ، قَالَ: فَوَاللهِ لَقَدْ نَزَلَ بِذَلِكَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، وَمَا ذَاكَ عِنْدَنَا بِأَبْيَنَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ: { يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَأْكُلُوا أَمْوَالَكُمْ بَيْنَكُمْ بِالْبَاطِلِ إِلا أَنْ تَكُونَ تِجَارَةً عَنْ تَرَاضٍ مِنْكُمْ وَلا تَقْتُلُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيمًا * وَمَنْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ عُدْوَانًا وَظُلْمًا فَسَوْفَ نُصْلِيهِ نَارًا وَكَانَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللهِ يَسِيرًا } قَالَ: ثُمَّ دَخَلَ إِلَى النَّاسِ وَرَجَعَ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ .
Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) went to Siffin and, standing between the ranks, said: "O people! Be silent. If a caller were to call out to you from the sky, and you saw him and heard his voice, and he said that Allah forbids you from that which you are engaged in, would you desist?" The people reviled him, so he said: "By Allah! Jibril (peace be upon him) descended with this very message, and this matter is not clearer to us than the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: ﴿O you who believe! Do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly, except that it be trade by mutual consent among you. And do not kill yourselves. Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you. And whoever does that in aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into the Fire, and that is easy for Allah.﴾" Then he entered among the people and returned to Kufa.
