قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ * فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللهِ وَفَضْلٍ لَمْ يَمْسَسْهُمْ سُوءٌ}
His saying, Exalted is He: {Those to whom people said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs." * So they returned with favor from Allah and bounty, no harm having touched them.}

Hadith 543
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ: كَانَتْ بَدْرٌ مَتْجَرًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاعَدَ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ أَنْ يَلْقَاهُ بِهَا، وَلَقِيَهُمْ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: إِنَّ بِهَا جَمْعًا عَظِيمًا مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، فَنَدَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ النَّاسَ، فَأَتَوْا بَدْرًا، فَلَمْ يَلْقَوْا أَحَدًا، فَرَجَعَ الْجَبَانُ، وَمَضَى الْجَرِيءُ، فَتَسَوَّقُوا بِهَا، وَلَمْ يَلْقَوْا أَحَدًا، فَنَزَلَتِ: { الَّذِينَ قَالَ لَهُمُ النَّاسُ إِنَّ النَّاسَ قَدْ جَمَعُوا لَكُمْ فَاخْشَوْهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَقَالُوا حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ * فَانْقَلَبُوا بِنِعْمَةٍ مِنَ اللهِ وَفَضْلٍ } .
It is narrated from ‘Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) that in the time of ignorance, trade used to be conducted in the open field, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had made an appointment with Abu Sufyan to meet there. Then a man came to them and said that a large number of polytheists had gathered there, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called the people, and they reached Badr but did not meet anyone there, so they returned. Then this verse was revealed: ﴿Those to whom the people said: “Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them.” But it increased them in faith and they said: “Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs.” So they returned with favor and bounty from Allah.﴾
Hadith 544
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: كَيْفَ أَنْعَمُ وَقَدِ الْتَقَمَ صَاحِبُ الْقَرْنِ الْقَرْنَ، وَحَنَى جَبْهَتَهُ، وَأَصْغَى سَمْعَهُ مَتَى يُؤْمَرُ، فَيَنْفُخُ فِي الصُّورِ ؟ قَالُوا: فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ: قُولُوا: حَسْبُنَا اللهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ، تَوَكَّلْنَا عَلَى اللهِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How can you live in comfort, while the owner of the horn has grasped the horn, has lowered his forehead, and is listening attentively, waiting for when he will be commanded to blow the trumpet?" The companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Then what do you command us?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Say: Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs, we place our trust in Allah."
Hadith 545
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا: إِنْ كَانَ أَبَوَاكِ مِنَ: الَّذِينَ اسْتَجَابُوا لِلهِ وَالرَّسُولِ .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him): "Your father, Sayyiduna Zubair bin Al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him), and your mother, Sayyida Asma bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), were among those who responded to the call of Allah and His Messenger."
