Sunan Sa'id

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِيُّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاللهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ}
His saying, Exalted is He: {Indeed, the most worthy of Abraham among the people are those who followed him [in submission to Allah] and this prophet, and those who believe [in his message]. And Allah is the ally of the believers.}

Hadith 501
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ وُلَاةً مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَإِنَّ وَلِيِّي مِنْهُمْ: أَبِي وَخَلِيلُ رَبِّي، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ: { إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِيُّ } .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every prophet has some special friends (awliya), and among them, my friends are my father and the Khalil (close friend) of my Lord." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: ﴿إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَٰذَا النَّبِيُّ﴾ (Indeed, the people who are closest to Ibrahim are those who followed him, and this Prophet [Muhammad, peace be upon him], and those who believe in him.)
