Sunan Sa'id

[قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ وَيَكُونَ الدِّينُ لِلَّهِ}]
His saying, Exalted is He: {And fight them until there is no [more] fitnah and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah.}

Hadith 284
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ، عَنْ وَبَرَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، قَالَ: خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، فَرَجَوْنَا أَنْ يُحَدِّثَنَا حَدِيثًا حَسَنًا، فَبَدَرَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي الْقِتَالِ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ وَاللهُ يَقُولُ: { وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّى لا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ } ؟ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: تَدْرِي مَا الْفِتْنَةُ ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ ؟ إِنَّمَا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَاتِلُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، وَكَانَ الدُّخُولُ فِي دِينِهِمْ فِتْنَةً، وَلَيْسَ بِقِتَالِكُمْ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ .
It is narrated from Sa'id bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) came before us, and we were hoping that he would narrate to us a good hadith. During this, a man came to him and asked: "O Abu Abdur Rahman! What do you say about fighting during the time of tribulation, even though Allah the Exalted has said: «وَقَاتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّىٰ لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ»?" So Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "What do you know about tribulation? May your mother grieve for you! Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fight the polytheists, and their entering into the religion was tribulation, but your fighting is not for the sake of the country."
Hadith 285
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَلا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ } قَالَ: تَرْكُ النَّفَقَةِ .
Shaqiq (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the statement of Allah, the Exalted: «وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ», that Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It means not spending (i.e., refraining from spending on one's needs)."
Hadith 286
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: بِمَنْعِكُمُ النَّفَقَةَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ مَخَافَةَ الْعَيْلَةِ .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Refraining from spending in the way of Allah on your part is due to the fear of poverty (destitution or insolvency)."
