Sunan Sa'id

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ}
His saying, Exalted is He: {So whoever among you witnesses the month, let him fast it.}

Hadith 273
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: { فَمَنْ شَهِدَ مِنْكُمُ الشَّهْرَ فَلْيَصُمْهُ } قَالَ: مَنْ أَدْرَكَهُ رَمَضَانُ فِي أَهْلِهِ ثُمَّ أَرَادَ السَّفَرَ فَلْيَصُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding this verse: "So whoever among you witnesses the month, let him fast it," says: Whoever finds Ramadan while at home, then intends to travel, he should fast.
Hadith 274
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ، قَالَ: إِذَا حَضَرَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ فَلَا يُسَافِرَنَّ فِيهِ أَحَدٌ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا فَلْيَصُمْ إِذَا سَافَرَ .
Abu Mujalid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: When the month of Ramadan arrives, then no one should undertake a journey, and if it is absolutely necessary to travel, then he should fast during the journey.
