قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلِلَّهِ الْمَشْرِقُ وَالْمَغْرِبُ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللهِ إِنَّ اللهَ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ}
His saying, the Exalted: "And to Allah belongs the east and the west. So wherever you [might] turn, there is the Face of Allah. Indeed, Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing."

Hadith 210
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّ قَوْمًا عَمِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقِبْلَةُ، فَصَلَّى كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْهُمْ إِلَى نَاحِيَةٍ، ثُمَّ أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرُوا ذَلِكَ لَهُ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ: { فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللهِ } .
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Qiblah became doubtful for some people, so each person prayed in his own direction. Then they came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and mentioned this to him, so Allah revealed this verse to His Messenger: "So wherever you turn, there is the Face of Allah." That is, wherever you turn your face, there is the direction of Allah.
