قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا}
His saying, the Exalted: "Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it..."

Hadith 208
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ قَانِفٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ يَقْرَأُ: (مَا نَنْسَخُ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَاهَا)، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ يَقْرَأُ: (مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِيهَا)، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَى الْمُسَيِّبِ، وَلَا عَلَى آلِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ اللهُ تَعَالَى: { سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلا تَنْسَى } { وَاذْكُرْ رَبَّكَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ } .
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) was reciting: “Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten...” (__QUR_N__). I (Qanif al-Thaqafi, may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sa’id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) recites: “Whatever verse We abrogate or cause it to be forgotten...” (__QUR_N__). So he replied: The Qur’an was not revealed to al-Musayyib or the family of al-Musayyib. Allah Almighty said: “We will make you recite, so you will not forget” (__QUR_N__), “And remember your Lord when you forget” (__QUR_N__).
Hadith 209
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: (مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِيهَا)، قَالَ: أَوْ نُؤَخِّرُهَا
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: ﴿Whatever verse We abrogate or cause to be forgotten﴾, that is: "Or We postpone it."
