[ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَتَلَقَّى آدَمُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ}
His saying, the Exalted: "Then Adam received from his Lord words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful."

Hadith 186
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْأَصَمُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ السُّدِّيَّ يَقُولُ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { فَتَلَقَّى آدَمُ مِنْ رَبِّهِ كَلِمَاتٍ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ } قَالَ: رَبِّ خَلَقْتَنِي بِيَدِكَ، وَنَفَخْتَ فِيَّ مِنْ رُوحِكَ، فَسَبَقَتْ رَحْمَتُكَ غَضَبَكَ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ تُبْتُ وَأَصْلَحْتُ هَلْ أَنْتَ رَادَّنِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ: قِيلَ: نَعَمْ .
Hasan bin Yazid Asam, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I heard Sudi, may Allah have mercy on him, explaining this blessed verse: “Then Adam received from his Lord words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, He is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.” Sudi, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Adam (peace be upon him) said: “O Lord! You created me with Your own hand, and You breathed into me from Your spirit, and Your mercy has preceded Your wrath. If I repent and reform myself, will You return me to Paradise?” It was said: “Yes.”
