الْآيَةُ (204) قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ}Verse (204) His saying, Exalted is He: {So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy}
Hadith 979

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَوْنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ قُرَّةَ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْزَلَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: { وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا } - فِي الصَّلَاةِ ؛ إِنَّ النَّاسَ كَانُوا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، وَأَنْزَلَهَا الْقَصَّاصُ فِي الْقَصَصِ .
Muawiyah bin Qurrah, may Allah have mercy on him, said: Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: ﴿And when the Qur'an is recited, listen to it and be silent﴾ regarding prayer, because people used to talk during prayer, but the storytellers applied it to storytelling.
