Hadith 973

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: نَا خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { فَلَمَّا أَثْقَلَتْ دَعَوَا اللهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنْ آتَيْتَنَا صَالِحًا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الشَّاكِرِينَ * فَلَمَّا آتَاهُمَا صَالِحًا جَعَلا لَهُ شُرَكَاءَ فِيمَا آتَاهُمَا } - قَالَ: إِنَّ حَوَّاءَ لَمَّا حَمَلَتْ أَتَاهَا إِبْلِيسُ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَنَا الَّذِي أَخْرَجْتُكُمَا مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تُطِيعِينِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّ لِابْنِكِ قَرْنَيْنِ فَلَيَشُقَّنَّ بَطْنَكِ أَوْ لَأُخْرِجَنَّهُ مَيِّتًا ! فَقَضَى أَنْ خَرَجَ مَيِّتًا . ¤ ثُمَّ حَمَلَتِ الثَّانِي، فَقَالَ لَهَا مِثْلَ مَقَالَتِهِ، فَقَالَتْ لَهُ حَوَّاءُ: أَخْبِرْنِي مَا الَّذِي تُرِيدُ أَنْ أُطِيعَكَ فِيهِ ؟ قَالَ: سَمِّيهِ عَبْدَ الْحَارِثِ - فَفَعَلَتْ، فَخَرَجَ بِإِذْنِ اللهِ سَوِيًّا، فَذَلِكَ قَوْلُهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { جَعَلا لَهُ شُرَكَاءَ فِيمَا آتَاهُمَا }، فَقَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ: لَمْ يَخُصَّ بِهَا آدَمَ، وَلَكِنْ جَعَلَهَا عَامَّةً لِجَمِيعِ النَّاسِ بَعْدَ آدَمَ . ¤
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) regarding this verse: ﴿So when she became heavy, they both called upon Allah, their Lord, "If You give us a righteous [child], we will surely be among the grateful." * But when He gave them a righteous [child], they made partners for Him in what He had given them.﴾ When Lady Hawwa (peace be upon her) became pregnant, Iblis came to her and said: "I am the one who expelled both of you from Paradise. If you do not obey me, I will make your child have two horns so that he will rip open your belly or be born dead." Consequently, the child was born dead. Then she became pregnant again, and Iblis said the same thing again. Lady Hawwa (peace be upon her) asked: "In what should I obey you?" He said: "Name the child 'Abd al-Harith.'" So they did so, and the child was born healthy and safe. This is the statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: ﴿They made partners for Him in what He had given them.﴾ And 'Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that this ruling is not specific only to Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), but is general for all people after him.
