قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {فَكَفَّارَتُهُ إِطْعَامُ عَشَرَةِ مَسَاكِينَ مِنْ أَوْسَطِ مَا تُطْعِمُونَ أَهْلِيكُمْ أَوْ كِسْوَتُهُمْ أَوْ تَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ ثَلاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةُ أَيْمَانِكُمْ إِذَا حَلَفْتُمْ وَاحْفَظُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ} .His (Allah's) saying: {But its expiation is the feeding of ten needy people from the average of that which you feed your [own] families or clothing them or the freeing of a slave. But whoever cannot find [or afford it]—then a fast of three days [is required]. That is the expiation for oaths when you have sworn. But guard your oaths}
Hadith 787

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: نَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ يَسَارِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: إِنِّي أَحْلِفُ أَنْ لَا أُعْطِيَ أَقْوَامًا، ثُمَّ يَبْدُو لِي أَنْ أُعْطِيَهُمْ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتَنِي فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ، فَأَطْعِمْ عَنِّي عَشَرَةَ مَسَاكِينَ، بَيْنَ كُلِّ مِسْكِينَيْنِ صَاعٌ مِنْ بُرٍّ، أَوْ صَاعٌ مِنْ تَمْرٍ .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sometimes I swear an oath that I will not give anything to certain people, then I think that I should give to them. So if you see me doing this, then feed ten needy people on my behalf, giving each two needy people one sa’ of wheat or one sa’ of dates.
