قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {لا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ وَلَكِنْ يُؤَاخِذُكُمْ بِمَا عَقَّدْتُمُ الأَيْمَانَ} .His (Allah's) saying: {Allah will not impose blame upon you for what is meaningless in your oaths, but He will impose blame upon you for [breaking] what you intended of oaths}
Hadith 775

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: نَا مُغِيرَةُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { لا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ } قَالَ: هُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَحْلِفُ عَلَى الْأَمْرِ يَرَى أَنَّهُ كَمَا حَلَفَ، فَلَا يَكُونُ كَذَلِكَ، قَالَ: يُكَفِّرُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ .
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said in the explanation of Allah the Exalted’s statement: ﴿لَا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ اللَّهُ بِاللَّغْوِ فِي أَيْمَانِكُمْ﴾: This is about the person who swears an oath about something and thinks that the matter is as he swore, but later the reality turns out to be otherwise, so expiation becomes obligatory upon such a person.
