حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَبِيدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، أَوْ غَيْرِهِ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتَعْمَلَ رَجُلًا شَابًّا، فَكَأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا فِيهِ وَقَدْ كَانَ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ الْقُرْآنِ مَثَلُ جِرَابٍ مُلِئَ مِسْكًا، إِنْ فَتَحْتَهُ فَتَحْتَهُ طَيِّبًا، وَإِنَّ أَوْعَيْتَهُ أَوْعَيْتَهُ طَيِّبًا .
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed a young man to a certain task, so some people objected to him, even though he had recited the Qur'an. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the Qur'an is like a vessel filled with musk; if you open it, its fragrance will spread, and if you keep it closed, the fragrance will still remain."
