قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {لَيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلا أَمَانِيِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ وَلا يَجِدْ لَهُ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ وَلِيًّا وَلا نَصِيرًا * وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا} .His (Allah's) saying: {It will not be in accordance with your desires or those of the People of the Book. Whoever does wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allah a protector or a helper. And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer—those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed}
Hadith 699

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ بَكْرَ بْنَ سَوَادَةَ حَدَّثَهُ، أَنَّ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَهُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا، أَنَّ رَجُلًا تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ: { مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ }، فَقَالَ: إِنَّا لَنُجْزَى بِكُلِّ عَمَلٍ عَمِلْنَاهُ ؟ هَلَكْنَا، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، يُجْزَى بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي الدُّنْيَا فِي نَفْسِهِ، فِي جَسَدِهِ، فِيمَا يُؤْذِيهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that a man recited the verse: "Whoever does evil will be recompensed for it" and said: Will we be punished for every deed that we have done? Then we are doomed! This matter reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: Yes, a believer is punished for his bad deeds in this world itself, in his life, in his body, and in those things which cause him distress.
