قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {لَيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلا أَمَانِيِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ وَلا يَجِدْ لَهُ مِنْ دُونِ اللهِ وَلِيًّا وَلا نَصِيرًا * وَمَنْ يَعْمَلْ مِنَ الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ وَلا يُظْلَمُونَ نَقِيرًا} .His (Allah's) saying: {It will not be in accordance with your desires or those of the People of the Book. Whoever does wrong will be recompensed for it, and he will not find besides Allah a protector or a helper. And whoever does righteous deeds, whether male or female, while being a believer—those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged, [even as much as] the speck on a date seed}
Hadith 692

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ: قَالَتِ الْعَرَبُ: لَا نُبْعَثُ وَلَا نُحَاسَبُ، وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى: لَنْ تَمَسَّنَا النَّارُ إِلَّا أَيَّامًا مَعْدُودَةً، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { لَيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلا أَمَانِيِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ } .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Arabs used to say that we will not be resurrected again, nor will we be held accountable, and the Christians used to say that the Fire will only touch us for a few numbered days. So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: ﴿لَيْسَ بِأَمَانِيِّكُمْ وَلَا أَمَانِيِّ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ مَنْ يَعْمَلْ سُوءًا يُجْزَ بِهِ﴾ meaning: It is not according to your wishes nor the wishes of the People of the Book; whoever does evil will be recompensed for it.
