قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَلا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ لِلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبُوا وَلِلنِّسَاءِ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا اكْتَسَبْنَ وَاسْأَلُوا اللهَ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ إِنَّ اللهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا} .His (Allah's) saying: {And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of His bounty. Indeed, Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing}
Hadith 623

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: نَا خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَلا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ } زَعَمَ أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ سَأَلْنَ الْجِهَادَ، فَقُلْنَ: وَدِدْنَا أَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَعَلَ لَنَا الْغَزْوَ، فَنُصِيبُ مِنَ الْأَجْرِ مَا يُصِيبُ الرِّجَالُ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَلا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ } .
Ikrimah, may Allah have mercy on him, in the explanation of this verse: ﴿وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ﴾, says that the women asked about jihad and said: "We wish that Allah would also grant us the opportunity for jihad so that we too may obtain reward like men." Upon this, Allah the Exalted revealed this verse: ﴿وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا مَا فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ﴾ (And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you excel over others).
