Hadith 54

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ: قَرَأَ عَلْقَمَةُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَكَانَ حَسَنَ الصَّوْتِ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: رَتِّلْ فِدَاكَ أَبِي وَأُمِّي ؛ فَإِنَّهُ زَيْنُ الْقُرْآنِ . " !
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Alqamah (may Allah have mercy on him) recited the Qur'an in front of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), and his voice was very beautiful. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Recite with tartil (measured recitation), may my parents be sacrificed for you, for this is the adornment of the Qur'an!"
