قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ قَاتَلَ مَعَهُ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ فَمَا وَهَنُوا لِمَا أَصَابَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَمَا ضَعُفُوا وَمَا اسْتَكَانُوا وَاللهُ يُحِبُّ الصَّابِرِينَ}His saying, Exalted is He: {And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.}
Hadith 528

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ: نَا خُصَيْفٌ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ وَأَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ - فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَكَأَيِّنْ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ قَاتَلَ مَعَهُ رِبِّيُّونَ كَثِيرٌ } - يَقُولُ: قَاتَلَ أَلَا تَرَى أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ: { فَمَا وَهَنُوا لِمَا أَصَابَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ } الْآيَةَ .
Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding the statement of Allah the Exalted: “And how many a prophet fought with him large bands of godly men” (__QUR_N__): Many followers fought along with their prophets, and they are saying: “So they did not lose heart for what befell them in the way of Allah” (so whatever befell them in the way of Allah, they did not despair).
