قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللهُ}، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ}His saying, Exalted is He: {Whether you reveal what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it.} To His saying: {So help us against the disbelieving people.}
Hadith 481

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: نَا جُوَيْبِرٌ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - فِي قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: { وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللهُ فَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ }، قَالَتْ: هُوَ الرَّجُلُ يَهُمُّ بِالْمَعْصِيَةِ، وَلَا يَعْمَلُهَا فَيُرْسَلُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْغَمِّ وَالْحُزْنِ بِقَدْرِ مَا كَانَ هَمَّ بِهِ مِنَ الْمَعْصِيَةِ، فَتِلْكَ مُحَاسَبَتُهُ .
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said about this verse: ﴿And whether you disclose what is in yourselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it. Then He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills.﴾: It refers to the person who intends to commit a sin but does not carry it out, so as much grief and sorrow is sent upon him as the intention he had for the sin, and this is his reckoning.
