قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: {وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللهُ}، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى: {فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ}His saying, Exalted is He: {Whether you reveal what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it.} To His saying: {So help us against the disbelieving people.}
Hadith 480

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: نَا سَيَّارٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ: { وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللهُ } فَكَانَتْ فِيهَا شِدَّةٌ، فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا فَنَسَخَتْهَا: { لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ } .
‘Amir Sha‘bi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When this verse was revealed: ﴿And whether you disclose what is in yourselves or conceal it, Allah will call you to account for it﴾, there was severity in it. Then the following verse was revealed, which abrogated it: ﴿It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned﴾.
