Hadith 47

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْبَصْرِيِّ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: وَاللهِ، مَا رَأَيْتُ أَحَدًا أَحْسَنَ قِرَاءَةً مِنْ طَلْقِ ابْنِ حَبِيبٍ ! وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ، وَسُئِلَ: مَنْ أَقْرَأُ النَّاسِ ؟ قَالَ: مَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتَ قِرَاءَتَهُ رَأَيْتَ أَنَّهُ يَخْشَى اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ .
Tawoos (may Allah have mercy on him) says: By Allah! I have not seen anyone who recites better than Talq bin Habeeb (may Allah have mercy on him, and while saying this, he gestured with his hand). He was asked: Who is the best reciter? He replied: The person whose recitation makes you feel that he fears Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
