Hadith 46

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَزْمُ بْنُ أَبِي حَزْمٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ يَقُولُ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مِائَةَ آيَةٍ كُتِبَ لَهُ قُنُوتُ لَيْلَةٍ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ مِائَتَيْ آيَةٍ لَمْ يُحَاجَّهُ الْقُرْآنُ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَ خَمْسَمِائَةِ آيَةٍ أَصْبَحَ لَهُ قِنْطَارٌ (مِنَ) الْأَجْرِ، وَالْقِنْطَارُ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا .
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that it has reached me that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Whoever recites one hundred verses at night, the reward of standing (in prayer) for the whole night will be written for him, and whoever recites two hundred verses, the Qur'an will not be an argument against him, and whoever recites five hundred verses, he will wake up in the morning in such a state that a qintar of reward will be written for him, and a qintar is equal to twelve thousand (dirhams).
