حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: " لَأَنْ أَكُونَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ قَوْمٍ، قَالُوا: نُقِرُّ بِالزَّكَاةِ فِي أَمْوَالِنَا، وَلَا نُؤَدِّيهَا إِلَيْكُمْ، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حُمْرِ النَّعَمِ "
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "If I had asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) about those people who acknowledge zakat but do not pay it, what is the ruling concerning them, it would have been better for me than red camels."
