حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَمْ تَحِلَّ الْغَنَائِمُ لِقَوْمٍ سُودِ الرُّءُوسِ غَيْرَكُمْ، كَانَتْ تَنْزِلُ نَارٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ فَتَأْكُلُهَا»، فَلَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ بَدْرٍ أَسْرَعَ النَّاسُ فِي الْغَنَائِمِ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ، فَكُلُوا مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا} [الأنفال: 69]
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No nation before you was permitted to take spoils of war." A fire used to descend from the sky upon them and consume it. On the day of Badr, when the people hastily took the spoils of war, Allah the Exalted revealed: «لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ» Then He said: «فَكُلُوا مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَالًا طَيِّبًا».
Brief Explanation
Here, al-A‘mash is a mudallis, and he has narrated with "‘an" (the ambiguous transmission). And it has supporting narrations (shawahid) from the hadith of Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn Haram al-Ansari. As for the hadith of Jabir ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn ‘Amr ibn Haram al-Ansari, «أخرجه البخاري فى «صحيحه» no. 335, 438, 3122, and Muslim in «صحيحه» no. 521.
