حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ: نَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رِيدَرْسَ (1)، قَالُوا: سَأَلُوا أَسْمَاءَ عَنْ أَشَدِّ يَوْمٍ أَتَى عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ: « إِنِّي أَظُنُّ أَنِّي أَذْكُرُ ذَلِكَ، بَيْنَا هُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ مِنْهُمْ، فَقَالُوا: إِنَّهُ يَقُولُ كَذَا، وَيَقُولُ كَذَا فِيمَا يَكْرَهُونَ، فَقُومُوا إِلَيْهِ نَسْأَلُهُ، فَذَهَبَ جَمَاعَةٌ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: تَقُولُ كَذَا، وَتَقُولُ كَذَا، قَالَ: « نَعَمْ « وَكَانَ لَا يَكْتُمُهُمْ شَيْئًا فَامْتَدُّوهُ بَيْنَهُمْ، وَجَاءَ الصَّرِيخُ إِلَى أَبِي، أَدْرِكْ صَاحِبَكَ، قَالَتْ: فَخَرَجَ أَبِي يَسْعَى، وَلَهُ غَدَائِرُ، فَنَادَى: وَيْلَكُمْ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلًا أَنْ يَقُولَ رَبِّيَ اللهُ ؟ قَالَتْ: فَلَهَوْا عَنْهُ وَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَى أَبِي، فَلَقَدْ أَتَانَا وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: تَبَارَكْتَ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ وَإِنَّ لَهُ الْغَدَائِرَ، وَإِنَّهُ لَيَقُولُ هَكَذَا وَيَمُدُّهَا فَتَتْبَعُهُ، وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ بِيَدِهِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): People asked Sayyidah Asma (may Allah be pleased with her): "Which was the hardest day upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" She replied: "I think I remember that day when he was in the mosque and some of those people were present." They began to say: "He says this and that which we dislike." So they came to him as a group. They said: "Do you say this?" He replied: "Yes." And he would not hide anything from them. Then they seized him. A caller came to my father and said: "Go to the aid of your companion." My father came running. He had hair in braids. And he called out: "Do you kill a man because he says: 'My Lord is Allah'?" Then they became occupied with him and turned towards my father. He came to us and kept saying: "You are blessed, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." He had a braid on his head. He would do like this with his hand.
