حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَهْلًا وَهُوَ يُسْأَلُ عَنْ جُرْحِ النَّبِيِّ، صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ مَنْ كَانَ يَغْسِلُ جُرْحَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يَسْكُبُ الْمَاءَ، وَبِمَاذَا دُووِيَ، كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ بِنْتُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَغْسِلُهُ، وَكَانَ عَلِيٌّ يَسْكُبُ الْمَاءَ، بِالْمِجَنِّ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ فَاطِمَةُ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَزِيدُ الدَّمَ إِلَّا كَثْرَةً، أَخَذَتْ قِطْعَةً مِنْ حَصِيرٍ فَأَحْرَقَتْهَا فَأَلْصَقَتْهَا، فَاسْتَمْسَكَ الدَّمُ، وَكُسِرَتْ رَبَاعِيَتُهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ، وَجُرِحَ وَجْهُهُ، وَكُسِرَتِ الْبَيْضَةُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ»
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) used to wash the wound of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would pour water over it. When the water caused the blood to flow even more, Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) burned a piece of mat and applied it to the wound, which stopped the bleeding. On that day, a tooth of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was also martyred and his helmet (head covering) was broken.
