The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the Battle of Uhud: “Can anyone bring news of Sa’d bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him)? I saw him at the edge of the mountain and spears were being thrust towards him.” A young man from the Ansar brought news about him that he had received twelve spear wounds and said: “Convey my greetings to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and tell my people: If the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is killed and any of you remain alive, then you will have no excuse.” Then, before his death, Sa’d bin Rabi’ (may Allah be pleased with him) entrusted his daughter to the care of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).
