Hadith 3984

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ، عَنْ شِبَاكٍ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ قَالَ: سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثًا، فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِي وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُنَّ، وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الطُّهُورِ وَكَانَتْ أَرْضُنَا أَرْضًا بَارِدَةً، فَلَمْ يَفْعَلْ، وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ سَاعَةً قَطُّ، وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يَرُدَّ عَلَيْنَا أَبَا بَكْرَةَ وَكَانَ عَبْدًا لَنَا، أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُحَاصِرٌ ثَقِيفًا فَأَسْلَمَ، فَأَبَى أَنْ يَرُدَّهُ عَلَيْنَا " قَالَ: «هُوَ طَلِيقُ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ طَلِيقُ رَسُولِهِ»، فَلَمْ يَرُدَّهُ عَلَيْنَا
A man from Thaqif said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for permission regarding three things, but he did not show leniency in any of them. We asked for ease in purification during cold weather, but he did not grant permission. We asked for permission to use the dabba’ (a type of container), but he did not grant it. We asked for our slave Abu Bakrah to be returned to us, who had embraced Islam during the siege by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), but he said: “He is freed by Allah and freed by His Messenger,” and did not return him.
