Hadith 3972

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، وَرَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ «الْبَرِيدَ، وَالدَّلِيلَ، وَالرَّسُولَ يَبْعَثُهُ الْإِمَامُ مِنَ الْمُعَسْكَرِ أَنَّهُ يُجْرِي لَهُمْ سَهْمَهُمْ مَعَ الْمُسْلِمِينِ، وَقَدْ تَخَلَّفَ عُثْمَانُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ، فَأَجْرَى لَهُ سَهْمًا مِنَ الْغَنِيمَةِ»
Atiyyah bin Qais (may Allah have mercy on him) and others said: "If the Imam sends an envoy, guide, or messenger, a share should be allotted for them along with the Muslims. Thus, Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) could not participate in Badr, but a share was allotted for him."
