حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَلْقَيْنِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُحَاصِرٌ وَادِيَ الْقُرَى، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِلَى مَا تَدْعُو قَالَ: «إِلَى اللَّهِ وَحْدَهُ» قَالَ: فَهَذَا الْمَالُ هَلْ أَحَدٌ أَحَقُّ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ؟ فَقَالَ: «خُمُسٌ لِلَّهِ وَأَرْبَعَةُ أَخْمَاسٍ لِهَؤُلَاءِ - يَعْنِي أَصْحَابَهُ - وَإِنِ انْتُزِعَ مِنْ جَنْبِكَ سَهْمٌ، فَلَسْتَ أَحَقَّ بِهِ مِنْ أَحَدٍ»
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was besieging Wadi al-Qura when a man came and said: "O Muhammad (peace be upon him)! What are you calling towards?" He replied: "Towards Allah alone, without any partner." He asked: "Whose is this wealth?" He replied: "A fifth is for Allah, and four-fifths are for my companions, and if any portion of yours is taken from you, then you have no superiority over others."
Brief Explanation
Ibn Shaqiq narrated from an unknown man ("a man from Balqeen"), and that is "a man from a man," meaning there are two unknown intermediaries. ➔ That is, there are two unknown narrators in the chain of transmission.
There was weakness in the solitary chain (due to the unknown narrators). However, on the basis of the collective chains, this hadith is authentic. As Allamah Ibn Rajab also stated in "‘Ilal al-Hadith" (3/351), he called it "the most authentic."
