Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him): "Find for me one of your boys who can serve me when I set out for Khaybar." So Sayyiduna Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) took me with him, and at that time I was near the age of puberty. I used to serve the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) whenever he stopped somewhere. I often heard him supplicating: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from grief and worry, from incapacity and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men." When we reached Khaybar, Allah granted victory over the fortress, then the beauty of Safiyyah bint Huyayy bin Akhtab was mentioned, and her husband had been killed, and she was a newlywed bride. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) chose her for himself. Then he departed with her until we reached the place of Sahba. There, Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) completed her (‘iddah), and he married her. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prepared a sweet dish of dates and clarified butter on a small leather mat, and said: "Call those who are nearby." So this was the wedding feast (walimah) on behalf of Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then when we set out towards Madinah, I saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would screen her with his cloak, and he himself would sit by the camel and place his knee, and Safiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) would place her foot on the knee of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to mount the camel. Then when we neared Madinah and the mountain of Uhud came into view, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is a mountain that loves us and we love it." Then when he looked towards Madinah, he said: "Indeed, I declare the area between the two black rocky tracts (Labadayn) of Madinah to be sacred, just as Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) declared Makkah to be sacred. O Allah! Bless their Sa‘ (measure) and their Mudd (measure)."
