Hadith 3845

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُجَالِدٌ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، قَالَ: «كَانَتِ الْأُسَارَى يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ أَحَدًا وَسَبْعِينَ، وَالْقَتْلَى تِسْعَةً وَسِتِّينَ، فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بعُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ فَضُرِبَتْ عُنُقُهُ، فَكَانَ الْقَتْلَى سَبْعِينَ وَالْأُسَارَى سَبْعِينَ»
On the day of the Battle of Badr, there were seventy captives and sixty-nine killed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the execution of ‘Uqbah bin Abi Mu‘ayt, so the total was seventy killed and seventy captives.
