بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي النَّهْيِ عَنِ النُّهْبَىChapter on what is reported regarding the prohibition of looting
Hadith 3813

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَصَابَتْنَا مَجَاعَةٌ، فَفَتَحَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا، فَأَصَبْنَا غَنَمًا، فَانْتَهَبَ الْقَوْمُ، فَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهَا شَاةً، وَإِنَّهَا لَتَغْلِي فِي قُدُورِنَا، إِذْ أَتَأَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي عَلَى قَوْسِهِ حَتَّى طَعَنَ فِي قُدُورَنَا بِالْقَوْسِ، فَجَفَنَهَا وَقَالَ: «لَيْسَتِ النُّهْبَةُ بِأَحَلَّ مِنَ الْمَيْتَةِ، فَجَعَلَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْعَظْمِ قَدِ ارْتَفَعَ عَنِ الْأَرْضِ فَيَدُوسُهُ بِقَوْسِهِ حَتَّى يُرَمِّلَهُ بِالتُّرَابِ»
A companion (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a battle, we became hungry so goats from the spoils were taken, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and knocked over the pots with his arrow and said: 'Looting is forbidden like carrion.'"
