Brief Explanation
This narration is mawquf: that is, it is the statement and action of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq radi Allahu anhu himself, and is not attributed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. It has been correlated with the interpretation of a verse of the Qur'an.
Benefit: The content is supported by the general principles of the Shari‘ah: the killing of the leaders and prominent figures among the disbelievers is of greater importance, because with their elimination, the strength of the disbelievers is broken. The verse of Surah al-Tawbah { فَقَاتِلُواأَئِمَّةَالْكُفْرِإِنَّهُمْلَاأَيْمَانَلَهُمْ } also supports this.
