Hadith 3767

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: «أَيُّمَا مَدِينَةٍ افْتُتِحَتْ عَنْوَةً، فَأَسْلَمَ أَهْلُهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْتَسِمُوا فَهُمْ أَحْرَارٌ وَأَمْوَالُهُمْ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ»
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says: "Any city that is conquered by force, if its people accept Islam before the distribution of the spoils of war, then they are free and their wealth belongs to the Muslims."
