حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ: أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ صُعَيْرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: فِي قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ: «زَمِّلُوهُمْ بِدِمَائِهِمْ، وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Tha'labah bin Sa'eer (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the martyrs of Uhud: "Wrap them in their blood, and place the one who knows more of the Qur'an ahead."
Brief Explanation
Explanation: The meeting of Abdullah bin Tha'labah with the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is established, but direct hearing (sama‘) is not; therefore, the narration reaching the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is, in principle, considered mursal. And the narration of a mursal companion, especially when weakness is also present, is regarded as weak.
