حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: نا مَنْصُورٌ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، قَالَ: " غَزَوْنَا خُرَاسَانَ فِي زَمَنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَإِنَّا لَمُحَاصِرُونَ حِصْنًا مِنْ حُصُونِ حَارِزْمَ، وَأَقَمْنَا سَنَتَيْنِ نُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَمَا نَصُوصُ الْفَرِيضَةَ، وَمَعَنَا مِعْضَدٌ الْعِجْلِيُّ وَاقِفٌ عَلَيْهِ قَبَاءٌ لَهُ أَبْيَضُ، فَقَالَ: مَا أَحْسَنَ أَثَرَ الدَّمِ فِي هَذَا الْقَبَاءِ، فَمَا كَانَتْ مَقَالَتُهُ بِأَسْرَعَ مِنْ أَنْ رُمِينَا بِالْمَنْجَنِيقِ مِنَ الْحِصْنِ، فَانْكَسَرَ مِنْهُ ثَلَاثُ فِرَقٍ، فَأَصَابَتْهُ فِرْقَةٌ مِنْهُ، فَجَعَلَ يَمَسُّهَا وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّهَا لَصَغِيرَةٌ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَجْعَلُ فِي الصَّغِيرَةِ خَيْرًا كَثِيرًا، فَانْصَرَفْنَا بِهِ، فَمَاتَ " فَكَانَ عَلْقَمَةُ يَلْبَسُ ذَلِكَ الْقَبَاءَ بِالْكُوفَةِ، وَقَدْ غَسَلَ عَنْهُ أَثَرَ الدَّمِ، وَقَدْ بَقِيَ أَثَرُهُ، وَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّهُ لَيُحَبِّبُ إِلَيَّ لَبُوسَ هَذَا الْقَبَاءِ تَذَكُّرِي دَمَ مِعْضَدٍ فِيهِ»
Sayyiduna Alqamah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates: We fought in jihad in Khurasan during the time of Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). We were besieging a fortress in Khwarazm, and for two years we performed two rak‘ahs with qasr (shortened prayer) and did not omit any obligatory act. With us was Mu‘addad ‘Ajli, who was standing wearing a white cloak. He said: “How good would it be if a mark of blood appeared on this cloak.” As soon as he said this, three stones were thrown from the fortress by a catapult, and one struck him. He passed his hand over the wound and said: “This is minor; Allah brings good even in small things.” We carried him away, and he passed away. Alqamah used to wear that cloak in Kufa, in which the mark of blood remained even after washing, and he used to say: “I like to keep wearing this cloak because it reminds me of Mu‘addad’s blood.”
