Hadith 3716

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: لَقِينَا الْعَدُوَّ فَحَاصَ النَّاسُ حَيْصَةً فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ حَاصَ، فَدَخَلْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَتَعَرَّضْنَا لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَحْنُ الْفَرَّارُونَ قَالَ: «بَلْ أَنْتُمُ الْعَكَّارُونِ، إِنِّي فِئَةٌ لَكُمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: We fought the enemy, and the people panicked and fled, and I was among them. Then we reached Madinah and met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: We are those who fled. He (peace be upon him) said: "Rather, you are those who returned. I am a refuge for you."
