Hadith 37

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ: خَرَجَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللهُ (عَنْهُ) عَلَى قَوْمٍ يَقْرَؤُونَ الْقُرْآنَ وَيَتَرَاجَعُونَ فِيهِ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا ؟ (فَقَالُوا): نَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ، وَنَتَرَاجَعُ فِيهِ ! فَقَالَ: تَرَاجَعُوا، وَلَا تَلْحَنُوا . !
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) came to a group of people who were reciting the Qur'an and reviewing it among themselves, so he said: "What is this?" They replied: "We are reciting the Qur'an and reflecting upon it!" So he said: "Reflect upon it, but do not make mistakes."
